Senior Project Update
1) For my independent component I am looking into video tutorials from various websites in order to learn the structures of different sub-genres within EDM.
2)One of the most interesting and significant piece of research I had was that of a video interview from a well known producer in the EDM business that said, producing EDM has never been so convenient and easy as before since all you really need now a days is a laptop and some headphones and you're ready to go.
3) This is the website the I am taking courses from that offers a select variety of producing tips and courses, some focused on EDM other that can applied in general to anything that you produce.

Science Fair Proposal
Blog 5b: Science Fair Proposal
1) My topic is EDM (Electronic Dance Music)
2) EDM events mostly cater and market to a specific age group since this is the age group that will mostly attend their events and therefore create the most revenue for their events.
3) If you are between the ages of 18-25 you are more likely to attend EDM events than if you are older than the age of 25.
4) In order to figure out if my hypothesis is true I plan to first create unbiased questions regarding EDM events. I will wok with Ogden in order to create these questions and create a survey that I will be able to use. I will then go to a location where the majority of the age group will be between the ages of 18-25, so I will choose a college campus in order to get as accurate as possible with survey. I will then interpret all the numbers i gather from the survey to see if my statement is true and figure out a 90% box plot and see if the age group 18-25 is withing that range. I will also try and obtain demographics of all the major EDM events to see if they have released any information that might be useful to my statement such as that of age and revenue per event, per year.

Blog 9: Working EQ and Possible Answers
Blog 9: Working EQ and Possible Answers
(1) What are the most important and effective components to produce a successful EDM song?
(2) I am not going to revise my EQ at this time.
(3) Some possible answers to my current working EQ would have to be that one of the most important parts of producing an EDM song is to have a lead synth. Another important aspect in producing an EDM song is to properly learn how to mix your end result so that you do not have clashing of sounds and frequencies in your final product. An effective and essential component in producing an EDM song is that of knowing how to use your audio effects correctly, especially your compression audio effect since it provides you with the option of side-chaining which is a key component in an EDM song.

ndependent Component 1 Plan Approval
Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval
- My plan for my independent study component is to taking various courses online until I meet the 30 hours necessary. These courses will outline step by step the basic structure and components of each sub-genre. These courses are meant to be built upon and worked on with a person own style. Quizzes are also given in order to see if you understand what certain things do and why they do so.
- These online courses vary from time and difficulty depending on the type sub-genre of EDM you are focusing on, as well as the program you use. The website where the online courses are given have hundreds of classes and videos explaining how to create EDM as well as other tips such as mixing as song.
- These classes will give me even more knowledge that I can apply to building an actual song so that by the end of the year have multiple songs that can be sent out to record labels, artist, or have a chance in remix competitions.

Blog 4: Working EQ
The Pentagon:
1) Something positive that has resulted of what I have completed so far is that I now have learned to use the program Ableton. Before I did not know how to even use Ableton at all since it is a complicated program to understand alone. I have learned the basics of constructing a basic build up but have yet to learn to create my own "style" and create a successful drop.
2) So far the a certain piece of research has resulted beneficial for me more than anything else. The piece of research that has helped me out a lot is that of an article that talks about whether or not a MIDI keyboard is required to produce EDM. This has been useful since I was unsure if i truly needed a keyboard or not and that piece of article cleared my mind since an external MIDI keyboard is not really required.
3) So far all the research I have acquired has been really useful since it has taught me so many new things that I did not learn over the summer and why certain things are useful in creating EDM. Some of those are using reverbs and the parameters that exist in each program.
4) So far finding a new mentor has been difficult since it is hard to contact people in the EDM industry and since most producers are constantly traveling or live far away.

- What is the most effective way to become known in the EDM industry?
- My end goal of the year is to successfully create multiple songs and demos to send out to record labels and get signed to one, as well as have a song releases on a record label.
- I would like to talk to an EDM producer that has already had songs released in a label.
